My sons father, whom I have not been involved with for over 9 years, and his wife are involved in a neglect and abuse case. They have included my son due to the nature of the complaint. My son does not live with his father and I am and never have been a respondent on this case. However, I am being sued by the state to pay 1/2 the GAL fees for this case. I am confused as to how I am responsible to pay these fees. First of all, the GAL has never met or interviewed my son. Has had little contact with me by phone or person. Has never been to my home, and is always confused as to why I am even asked to attend the hearings other than for information purposes. Can you help. By the way, this is for Oakland County Michigan.

Sounds to me to be a miscommunication by the State agencies.
Whatever agency sent you the bill, send a letter back to them disputing the charges for the reasons you have given. |
