my current court order was written with the fact that myself and my ex live in the same state. He contacted me 2 days ago (via mail) and the letter said I joined the military and I am out of here. I will see the kids when I can in your state and hope to fly them to me next winter. I spoke to the courts and they said there is nothing you can do about it because being he went military I have to know contact info and his charge officers name...I know and have none. So my concern is being this order was based on us living in the same state how does it work? Can he come to pick the kids up and say they're leaving state with me and it is your responsiblity to transport them back, so you can pick them up next sunday 500 miles away? If I carry both 100% legal and physical custody can he remove them from the state without my permission if the order reads nothing about out of state either way?

File a motion with the court for a modification in the parenting agreement based upon a significant change in circumstances. Obviously, any "alternating weekend" schedule is not going to work now.
