Default Judge Judy and Judge Cristina wanting my sister on the show

My sister had divorce papers for her ex to sign. She didn't have his home address so had to take the papers to his work. She had amended HIS paper work stating that she made too much money and that he shouldn't be responsible for child support. Upon reading the papers he became verbally and somewhat physically abusive. My 17 yr old niece who is bipolar, has one hand, and has a criminal record, was with her. She was told to stay in the car but didn't. When she heard what was going on she wanted to strike her father but knew she couldn't. She instead vandalized his girlfriends car that he had driven to work. The damage is supposedly $2,000.00. The girlfriend is suing both my sister and her daughter. My sister has no money whatsoever to cover this let alone get a lawyer. Yesterday A DHL Express letter was delivered from the TV show "Cristinas Court" Today "Judge Judy" called her personally to try and get her to go on her show! What should she do? My sister told her that she doesn't think the other party will agree. Judge Judy told her not to worry about it she has a way with people.Judge Judys office faxed papers to my sister which said that she is not to conduct any interviews or appear on any other show. They want my sister to sign this statement. Will any detriment come to my sister if she agrees to do the show? By the way, neither Judge knows about my niece having bipolar and only one hand. Don't know if that makes any difference.

How did the TV show learn of this?

But in any case no it will not harm her, except that millions will be watchng her personal business, which is not what everybody would want to do.

I don't think my reply went through so I will post it again. I don't know how the shows got the info. The Cristina show said they have field researchers, I don't know about Judge Judy. I told my sister not to sign anything unless she consults with a lawyer. I told her to see if she can get a stipulation stating that what goes on will only pertain to this case and nothing about my nieces past will come out. Only things pertaining to this case will be discussed. My sister told the producer of the show that she is afraid that Judge Judy will yell at her. The producer told her that the Judge is very sympathetic to mothers, especially those dealing with dead beat dads. I have a feeling they say that to lure you in and then drop the bomb. Thanks for your reply.

Those shows are not sympathetic to anybody. They are out to make money through entertainment aimed at the basest levels of society, pure and simple. The more conflict, the more entertainment, so they intentionally coach the participants to be confrontational with each other and towards the judge.
Nothing good will come from appearing on one of these shows.

Don't do it!!!! I had gone on Judge Judy with my son. Yea they will pay for the accommodations and the judgment but in exchange for your dignity. They lie and get you to use a strategy they want you to use and it blows up in your face. I personally thought the whole thing was a joke but if you do not want them to say something, unless there is a criminal case involved, they will say whatever they think will increase their ratings. Good luck!

That is exactly what I heard from a co-worker who appeared on one of those shows. He was coached before the taping to be confrontational with the judge, just to increase the drama. Of course, the drama ended up being that the judge got angry and ruled against him.

Thumbs Up Re: Judge Judy and Judge Cristina wanting my sister on the show

They were able to get that info, becaouse when you file a claim with the court those are public records. So any one that wishs to look at any open cases just has to go into the courts county website. If you go on the judge judy show both def and plaintiff get money i belive it might be 500 dollars and they will also pay the judgment if you do get judgment.

Wink Re: Judge Judy and Judge Cristina wanting my sister on the show

I totally think you should go on the Judge Judy Show because people will always remember Judge Judy before they will Christina's court. Your going to want to tell your grandkids a story about a show they may have heard about! and she's a peach
p.s. Judge Judy Show has many researchers....

Yes, your children will be very interested in the story of how your turned your personal family tragedy into a public spectacle. Should make good conversation at the Thanksgiving Dinner table.
