My future daughter-in-law was adopted and she needs her birth certificate for her driver's license etc. Her adoptive Mom gave her a birth certificate, grudgingly, and told her it would do her no good.
This has turned out to be true because it was a hospital certificate and when she wrote to the state of Michigan to get an official copy she was told that her birth was never registered. Does anyone have any suggestion? Thanks for any help. |

The adoption records should contain all relevant records.
Can she call the agency that was involved? |

Thank you for the reply. It appears that there never was a legal adoption, so we are hoping that the state will be able to help in some way. She has only the hospital certificate which has a different name than the one she grew up with. There must be some solution so I guess we will just keep researching and asking questions.
Thank you, Jackie |

Do a google search. I don't know about MI, but SC has all vital statistics online. Type in vital statistics, her birth date, state, county, city. don't be afraid to use more than one word in a google search.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions. We will follow them and see what we get. I'm sure that there is a solution because the records have to be somewhere.
She is out on the fire lines in California right now, but we will get busy on this as soon as she gets back. We really do appreciate your help. Jackie |
