As father of a 18 year old daughter I am frantic that I am forced to watch her spin financially out of control because the law recognizes her as an adult. She has opened a joint checking account with her boyfriend, which is $400 or more overdrawn. She is behind in all of her bills and habitually lies about her attempts to get a job. Although seemingly powerless to salvage her credit based on these bad choices I fear that soon she will be facing legal difficulties even jail. Although she is seen legally as an adult, what legal recourse do we have to protect her from herself?

Hi--not too much legally unfortunately. She may just have to work through a few hard lessons.
Eventually they will cut credit so that will limit damages. |
