What are the legal ramifications for signing a check for an account opened only in your spouses name but after you were married?

The way I understand it is, it's not a problem until it's a problem. Meaning, as long as your spouse doesn't mind neither does anyone else but if your spouse complains then it's considered forgery/stealing, even if you are married to that person at the time. If your name is not on the account you do not have access to the money in any form, period and legal action could be taken.
