I work 15 hours a week for a non-profit company in New York State. I sustained an injury in performing my job. I have been on 6 weeks WC so far and hope to return soon. So far, their insurance company is taking care of medical bills. I thought I would be entitled to a percentage of my weekly hourly wage. So far not!
Is this in line with WC, or should I pursue this?

I worked for a California employer for eight months with no pay. The employer claims I agreed to work for free during this period and that I started receiving wages and benefits in the ninth month forward as agreed and therefore he owes me no back pay. I say it is illegal for an employer to not pay an employee, even if he thinks the employee agreed to it. Is he breaking any law by not paying me and thus avoiding employer payroll taxes during this period, or can he make the claim that I agreed to this and therefore owes me nothing? I am salaried and he did not pay any catch up wages.

I own a small business and hired someone earlier this year on a full time/temporary basis. Verbally the position was designated to go through November of this year. I acknowledged that I hoped it would turn into a permanent position, but could not guarantee it. Now November is here and there is really not enough work to justify changing this position to a permanent one. I have offered to transfer her to an hourly laborer position but that I could not guarantee full time work. What, if any, unemployment benefits does this worker qualify either if terminated as a full time/temporary employee or demoted to a part-time hourly? All of the paperwork designates the position as full-time/temporary. The business is operated in the state of Georgia.
