This situation is about to ocurr in New York state. My aunt has Alzheimers and the process has started to find a suitable nursing home for her. She is no longer of sound mind and going to a nursing home wouldn't be her choice. My mom initiated this process and the doctors say under the circumstances this would be best. No one disputes this. My aunt owns the house she lives in but my mom rents the upstairs apartment from her. I don't believe the courts would let her change her will at this point. Up until recently my mom was her primary care giver, fixing meals, cleaning, etc. My mom is no longer able to provide this care because of her age and health. Paid third parties are performing these tasks but my mom still takes care of my aunt's finances which was arranged with the bank not the cours. She doesn't have the finances to pay for her care in a nursing home. What will happen to my aunt's house if she is committed into a nursing home?
