charged with dui but i wanst driving

i am not sure what to do when i go to court on march 6th...a month ago after a night of drinking, my girlfriend was driving me home and i grabbed the wheel and we crashed into bushes on the side of an onramp. the car got 3 flat tires and we werent able to get it out. in the process of tring to get it out the police showed up. when the arrived on scene my girlfriend was in the drviers seat and i was at the rear of the vehicle.when the police aked who was drving i told them i was and they procedded to give me a breathlizer which i blew a .16. they impounded the car and took my girlfriend home without giving her a breathalizer. long story short i spent the night in jail and now that court is approaching i dont know if i should plead not guilty so i can explain what happened or on advice from an attorney friend plead guilty to wreckless driving?

also is the penalty stiffer for lying to the police or wreckless driving? What is the penalty for lying about driving the vehicle.
