Please let me know, if I can deduct my $500.00 deductable out of our employees paycheck, due to him driving our Company Truck, after hours, (He did sign a waiver that he was not to use the truck after hours at all, or on his own time.) He had an accident with our Company Truck, was drunk, and left the scene. We had over $6,000.00 damages to our Truck, plus towing fees. He did get a couple of tickets for reckless driving, and leaving the scene of the accident. Is it illegal to deduct the $500.00 from his check?

You are supposed to sue him for the damages and all other amounts due if any or have him voluntarily allow the deduction. You normally cannot just take it.
