I had a search warrant executed on a residence (Georgia) that i was in the process of moving into. I only had boxes and stuff in there at the time. The found 12 small marijuana plants that i had in the upstairs closet. No lights or anything just plants in the samll black growing pots. They left papers of the search on my countertop as i was not at the house at the time. What is the sheriff's officees next step? Will they issue an arrest warrant? How long does this usually take if they do, days, weeks, etc...? Also how will they notify if they do, since i no longer live at the current residence or my last residence. I just went to a freinds house for now.

I wish to inform you that sheriff office will investigate the matter and after investigation they may take further action. Sheriff may serve warrants on you at the residence which is in their knowledge. If sheriff does not know your current address then they may start search for you and may therefore arrest you after they find your current address.

The first thing you need to do is contact a criminal defense lawyer for you can certainly expect to have charges filed against you, most likely be arrested and with 12 plants the lawyer can advise you of how you will be charged under Georgia criminal law. Possession is one thing. Growing is another.
I would get to a lawyer immediately. |

Thanks. Do you know how long it usually takes for them to issue an arrest warrant? Also i heard you can call the court of clerks and find out if they have issued a warrant, is this true?
