DUI, but not drinking. Possession of less than 1 oz, but hadn't smoked in two weeks.

I had taken some medicine prescribed by my doctor. I had a bad reaction to it, passed out, and ran in the ditch. No other driver was involved. The law found 2 roaches in my car, but can't they prove it was mine? I had not smoked that day. So, I have 2 charges against me. (1) Driving under the influence of drugs. (2) Possession of less than 1 ounce of maryjane. Have a court date June 25, 2007. Any advice would be great. I have never been in trouble before and know nothing about the legal system and how it works.

Make sure you get legal counsel (or at least the public defender) to try to keep this off your record eventually--jail time is probably avoidable if your record is very clear now. But having that arrest and/or a conviction on your record will make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision etc. If it eventually appears it cannot be negotiated down, or you need to discuss this in more detail with senior counsel to review options etc., post back.
