impounded vehicle
Two months ago my son was arrested crossing the border with marijuana. The vehicle was impounded and has been in the custody of the govt. since that time. A few days ago they called his lawyer and said while practicing training exercises they found additional drugs in the vehicle and therefore upped his charge. Is this legal and do we have any rights as the owner of the vehicle?

It is legal unfortunately. And these days vehicles can be seized when used for drug related activities. The lawyer can file papers to get it released but it will not be easy.
