raising of fine?

raising of fine?
i was issued a fine in violation of a city ordinance. the original fine listed on the ticket is $100. i was recently contacted by the issuing officer, who stated that that the fine is in fact $200. neither the court date nor the time allotted to pay for the fine has passed. do i have to pay the $200, or am i only obligated to pay the $100 since that is what i was fined?

It is not prohibited to collect the correct fine -- but if you pay the 100 and present a copy of your ticket, the prosecutor may not take the case further.
