I was traveling through Utah and was pulled over by a police car. His reason for pulling me over was a cracked windshield. He proceeded to pull the driver out of the car and take him behind the vehicle. He lated approached the passenger window claiming the driver had told him we had a marijuana pipe in the car, which the driver had said nothing about. After getting the passenger to admit to the pipe, the cop had everyone step out of the car and began to search the car. We came out and admitted everything we had on us and cooperated completely. The officer gave us misdemeanor citations. We were instructed to call the court office no earlier than 5 days and no later than 14. Today is the 9th day and the court has still not received the citations. Is there a time limit on how long the officer has to report the citations before they are not considered valid?

Not really but if the delay continues and he then files you could ask the court to dismiss for failure to file promptly.

You might check with the DA about any 12 month limit but frankly that almost never happens. If does not get filed in a few weeks he may not file.
