Possession

My car was recently pulled over due to a wide turn my friend (It is my car I was just putting shoes on in the back) did while pulling out of a parking lott. I myself was in the back seat with my other friend who had weed with him. He asked if he could smoke and and I told him yes stupidly and while he took it out we got pulled over. I am 17 years old, the cop asked for our names and licenses and took me out cause im the owner of the car. I always replied yes sir and no sir and was extremly respectful when he asked if there was weed in the car cause he smelled it I said yes and told him to talk to my friend about were it was I didnt know. So they searched him found it on him he also had a pipe he through under my seat and he himself hadnt smoked in my car but did priar to meeting us. So they charged me with a possesion charge and paraphanelia. How much will the ticket be? Can I get the charges aquitted I was not high what so ever.

Make sure you get legal counsel (or at least the public defender) to try to keep this off your record eventually--jail time is not likely but having that arrest and/or a conviction on your record could make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision or even be dismissed etc. If it eventually appears it cannot be negotiated down, or you need to discuss this in more detail with senior counsel to review options etc., please let us know.
