Exclamation Help!

while on probation for possesion of marijuana jane was pulled over for a routine traffic violation-the officers discovered a small amount of marijuana during a search of her vehicle.Jane was taken to jail and remains there under a probation hold.A day after Jane was arrested the owner of the marijuana came forward and wrote a statement claiming full responsibility for the drugs. The statament was taken to the D.A handling the case, but the D.A(asst.) said he would not drop the charges against Jane-Can the D.A do this when the culprit has signed a statment claiming responsibility?Under what circumstances or conditions can the D.A refuse to drop the charges against one person or deny another person the right to accept responsibility? The D.A will not speak to or offer explanation to the family. What are our options?Where should we go from here?--Thank you for your time

Default Re: Help!

Yes--but the real culprit can testify in court and Jane is likely to prevail at court. ...or the DA may drop the case before trial
