Does anyone have any advice
I am 35 with 3 children to older kids from a previous marriage and a two year old. I have been married to my second husband since I was 7 months pregnant with our daughter. He is very controlling and also very emotionally abusive. Two weeks ago I slapped him in the face. I broke his nose. He claims in his hospital report that I punched him not that I guess it makes a difference. His nose has also been broken before in an accident. I am very ashamed I did it. Nothing can take back the fact that I lost control and clearly went too far. I am not making excuses but I did it without even thinking in one of our arguments when he was calling me unthinkable things that are hard to even repeat. I know words should not mean anything but I think I have become too tired of hearing them. The situation needless to say is very unhealthy. I admit I am not myself and I am very depressed. My husband keeps using this against me. I did see a shrink for about 6 months and tried some medication. It only made my hair fall out and made me feel angry instead of sad which ended up to be even worse. I also admitted myself into a psychiatric hospital for a night, of course with my husband encouraging me to do so then trying to use it against me. We have been through mediation and had agreed to 50/50 parenting time, though I felt threatened to say any different. We had our trial extended to try reconciliation our trial date is early April. After the situation with the nose he has asked to go back to friend of the court to mediate again on behalf of new info. Me being crazy and violent and he wants primary care of our daughter. He has also recorded me when I am upset and intends to submit these emotional outbreaks. He was granted his motion today we go back to mediation. My attorney wants me to get all medical records but she doesn't think it looks good with the nose and the psych hospital. THIS is crazy not me.I cannot believe this is happening he
is making me look like I am nuts. Any advice? I know it's sorta a hopeless situation. I am certainly feeling that. |

Have you tried any type of anger management classes? If not, you need to enroll ASAP. You should also go back to your therapist, or continue your counseling and try any meds that are prescribed.
Your attorney is correct, at this point things don't look very good, however, if you can work hard to better yourself and can prove it in court, the Judge might be more inclined to give you more time before making a final custody ruling. |

To get an annulment, you must meet some very specific criteria. If you don't qualify for this, you should be able to do a simple uncontested divorce. Most attorneys offer a free consultation where they will discuss the generalities of your case and how they think it would be best to proceed. Since you've been married for such a short time, the property settlement should be relatively easy.
___ A marriage annulment is a legal procedure that dissolves a couple's marital status by establishing that a valid marriage never existed. In effect, it nullifies the marriage, returning the parties to their prior single status. It's a common misconception that short marriages can be annulled, but the length of the marriage is not a qualifying factor. Generally, for a marriage to be declared invalid, one of the following grounds for annulment must be met: One or both parties were not old enough to enter the marriage contract; There exists a close blood relationship between the parties; One party was still legally married when the current marriage occurred; One party was impotent and unable to consummate the marriage; One of the spouse's didn't have the mental capacity to enter into a marriage contract. (i.e. due to drunkenness or mental disability) One of the spouses entered into the marriage under duress, threat, or force. The marriage was entered into fraudulently. This may be due to the concealment of impotence, criminal history, sexually transmitted diseases, etc. |
