I have to file for a restraining order and legal motions to protect me and my children.

Is there a standard form or do i contact the court--what do I do.
This has been going on for 2 years.

The court normally has a basic form and the police dept often does as well.

Call the local court clerk and they will direct you.

Go to your county clerks office and tell them you want to file a PPO. Then you fill out the forms and they give you options on how to send it to the defendent (you are the respondent). Usually cost $25-45 to have a police officer send it, but it gives the impression of that your really serious. After you turn in your papers, then you get a hearing date set in the court. then you go before a judge and have to explain why and what for. Be cause this is domestic violence, you HAVE TO SHOW EVIDENCE that he is an IMMEDIATE THREAT to you and or your children. If you go in there with no evidence the judge could very well dismiss the whole thing. And then you are left to deal with the angry aggressor in your life. And you know he will be pissed. So have everything ready to put in front of the judge for HIM to see!
