Confused How close is too close? I received an ex parte protective order...

I received an ex parte protective order on July 23. On July 24 my exboyfiend moved in with my next door neighbor. The sheriff's office says that that is not a violation of the protective order. How can that be? Must I be forced to keep my son inside, and have him watching my every move?

That is very odd. I wouldn't take the sheriff's word for it. Consult an attorney or ask your local court aid for assistance. Usually these types of order stipulate how far away the person must be. Living right next door is too close for comfort and it's a disgrace the sheriff said it wasn't a violation. It's called stalking. With all the other places this guy had for choice, he chose to move right next to you? I'd be very concerned and I would consult with an attorney. I'd also have the order modified if there is currently no stipulation as to how far away he must stay from you.

I'd also encourage you to let the judge who signed your restraining order know what has happened.
