Abusive Spouse That Will Not Give Me a Divorce

I am not sure where to post this, but I will try posting it here. My apologies if this is not considered the right forum to post in. I am an American man who is married to a Sri Lankan woman. My wife is very abusive to me both emotionally and financially. She has threatened my life several times with a knife and I want to divorce her. We have been married a little over a year. She has accused me of having affairs, even when solid proof is presented that says otherwise. She lies about money, she destorys my belongings. My problem is that I want to divorce her and she will not give me a divorce because divorce looks bad in her culture. We are living in Seoul, Korea and the only way to divorce here is for her and I both to agree to divorce, which she will not do. I have been told by the US embassy to "just not sponor her" for a spousal visa anymore after her visa expires. I have also been told that weddings in Sri Lanka may not be considered valid in some countries. I even read on a website that all information Sri Lankan marriage certificates has to be correct for the marriage to be valid. There are four mistakes on our marriage certificate.

You can file for divorce in SK or in the USA and it will be easy to resolve and terminate.
