The whole experience of buying from www.wearwarehouse.com has been nothing but living nightmare, the post is a bit long as I tried to post as detailed as possible knowing that the information in this one might help those who have been scammed by this guy. Here’s what happened, read my story and learn my lesson:

Before I start, I would like you guys to know the background of the case, I’m a Chinese immigrant in the US, I read, write, speak fluent Chinese and I have friends and contacts in China, I do know where and who I could refer to since this happened.

I’m a Nike brand shoes re-seller, I always try to find legit suppliers with authentic shoes. I got to know www.wearwarehouse.com on a supplier list, I was impressed by the website and they seemed legit to me at the time. So I decided to place a small order first, which was 11 pairs of Nike Air Jordan shoes with total value of $1,257, everything was smooth except the fact that shoes have been stuck at JFK custom for about a month, they finally came to me and I was pretty satisfied with the products and service. As the time came I had to re-stock, I decided to place a bigger order of 51 pairs of Nike Air Jordan shoes, this time the total value was over $5,000. Here’s where the nightmare started.

The order was placed on 12/11/07, and I paid on 12/15/07. After couple emails of asking him when the order will be shipped out, I finally got the email on 12/26/07 that shoes were shipped out, I was told specifically that 51 pairs of shoes were separated into 5 boxes, 12 pairs in each box for the first 4 boxes, the rest 3 pairs were put into a smaller box, the shipping company is a Chinese express mail company called EMS, and I was given 1 tracking number for 5 boxes.

I got the box of 3 pairs of shoes on 01/03/08, I told the mail lady that there were supposed to be 4 other boxes, she said no, that was all she got, I asked her if it’s possible that the other boxes were stuck at the custom like what happened when the first time I ordered, she said it’s possible but she’s not sure, so we signed for delivery. I then emailed www.wearwarehouse.com on that specific day asking if he knew where the rest shoes were, he replied basically said he had no idea and “maybe you will get them later”. At that point, I thought it’s highly possible that shoes got stuck at the custom again, I had no doubt whatsoever of the wearwarehouse guy, and that’s what my husband believed also, so we decided to wait. 3 days later there was no news I started having slight fear back in my mind that there’s something wrong. As I said I signed for delivery of the 3 pairs of shoes, so when I typed in the tracking number on EMS website www.ems.com.cn , it shows up the items were delivered.

I then called the customer service number of EMS, with only 1 tracking number provided, of course they told me all they could tell me is shoes were delivered, but they did ask me to contact the initial post office which is where to shoes were sent for more info.

I immediately found out the phone number of the initial post office which is where the shoes were sent, I was told 5 boxes should have 5 EMS paper on each box with 5 tracking numbers instead of 1. After talking to the post office guy I started having more and more suspicions about wearwarehouse guy but I still wanted to believe him, so I sent him another email said hey I’ve talked to the post office and I was told there’s supposed to be 5 tracking numbers, could you give them a call, I even passed the phone number and specific person I talked to. At that point, as I said I had my suspicions but mainly I was feeling upset because the things I was doing was supposed to be their job, I felt that there was barely any customer service. The wearwarehouse guy replied giving me excuse that shoes were sent, and kept asking me to check with the custom, I then sent couple more emails told him that if you want me to check with custom at least you should give me tracking numbers, otherwise what am I going to check with custom?

The next couple days I kept sending emails to the wearwarehouse guy, basically asked him to confirm with the post office so to find out where the shoes were. Before it took him less than 30 mins to reply my email while I was placing orders, and now it took him 2 days to reply 1 email, and he ignored all my messages on MSN. I started getting tired of it and I knew in my heart that something terrible has just happened.

As he kept saying shoes were sent and had no idea where they were, and refused to contact post office, I then decided to talk to the post office again on 01/10/08, this time, I talked to the manager of the post office, then I got the shocking news that EMS DO NOT provide combined shipping, which means in this case, 5 boxes can not be put into 1 big box with 1 tracking number, it has to be 5 boxes with 5 tracking numbers. He also told me there’s another shipping method from EMS which is a bit slower than express mail, they could combine shipping in that case but the tracking number should start with CT instead of EA, my tracking number started with EA which means technically there’s no way possible for them to combine shipping.

I then called the specific post man which was the shipping handler Mr Han, and he also confirmed with me that on 12/26/07, he received 3 pairs of shoes and shipped them out. I then checked the EMS paper again, as I read it carefully this time, I noticed more info which I didn’t pay much attention to, here’s what it says: number of PCS: 3. Total weight: 5.5kg. Declared value: $400.

At that point, my suspicions were confirmed and my heart dropped and it’s clear to me that I just got scammed and lost over $5,000 that’s when I posted the previous messages said I’ve just lost the money.

I then sent the wearwarehouse guy an email said I’ve got the confirmation that EMS do not provide combined shipping, so now there’re 2 possibilities, 1, you didn’t ship the rest 48 pairs of shoes. 2, you did send them out but you used other shipping method instead of EMS. Thank god I asked for the wearwarehouse guy’s phone number before I first ordered from him, I found out that number and noticed it was a cell phone number 0086(china country code) 1591592217**** ( chinese mainland cell phone number from China telecom company) instead of business phone number which legit company should provide.

I immediately called the number and it was a young guy picked up the call, he first kept asking me where I was, and if I’m in the US why my phone number shows up as a local Chinese cell phone number. I use international phone card to call China all the time and it always shows up as a local cell phone number every time. From his reactions I could tell that he’s scared of something, either investigations or Nike inspectors. As when I check if a Chinese shoe company is legit or not, I normally just give them a call, if they’re legit they would never ever ask you where you are because they have nothing to worry about. He gave me excuses that “Susan” the sales person I contacted that she was not at office and he will ask her to reply my email as soon as she’s back. (Later on, through my personal investigations I found out that “Ben” “Susan” “Josh” “Joe” “Mark”…etc…these are just the names the wearwarehouse guy randomly picks up, these people DO NOT exist, you guys are dealing with 1 person with 1 email address. That’s why I used “he” instead of “them” from the very beginning of the story).

The next 2 times I called him, he picked up the calls but remained silent, as I could clearly hear the background.

As the wearwarehouse guy ignored all my messages on MSN, refused to talk to me over the phone, the only way I could communicate with him is via emails. So on 1/11/08 I sent him an email asked him to refund, he kept lying to me that shoes were sent. He said he sent the shoes he had absolutely nothing to prove, rather I have all the proofs and even the post office people’s confirmation.

At that point, I just wanted my money back so I need more info about this guy, I contacted the manager of the supplier list explained the situation said I was desperately seeking help, I’d be very appreciated if he could tell me more information about this company as I can not find nothing on the website www.wearwarehouse.com , no address, no phone number no nothing. He replied my email right away passed me a website www.ec21.com he said if I type in www.wearwarehouse.com in search results I could find 2 of their listings, there’re 2 phone numbers I could call to find out more information. I then called right away, it turned out the phone numbers are one of the hospitals and hotels phone number in Hong Kong. It’s crystal clear that he’s not at Hong Kong as he claimed, I knew it because shoes were shipped out from Tianjin, China. Tian Jin is a city close to Beijing.

Then I googled the website www.wearwarehouse.com I found out that I was not the first person he scammed. I wish I did research before I ordered from him, I was fooled by the fancy website.

I started getting very angry about him and the whole situation. On 1/12/08 I’ve got an email from a “sales manager” called “Josh” said “Susan” made a mistake on filling up the quantity of the shoes and she will be fired. Same email address, same broken English. There’s no doubt in my mind at that point that I’m dealing with 1 person, those names are just randomly picked up by him, these people do not exist.

Through all my investigations I got to know a shoe seller in Tian Jin which I’ll not be able to post here how I found him. He’s been in shoe business for many years, I explained to him what happened to me, he’s confirmed with me that he knows the wearwarehouse guy and briefly described to me what he looks like, a Chinese male, 25 years old, wear eye-glass. He also offered help that he would like to assist the police to arrest him if needed.

While I was doing investigations I didn’t email wearwarehouse guy for 2 days, on 1/14/08 I got an email from him, asked me if I’ve got the news that “shoes were lost”. I was completely fed up with his lies at that point, I then replied the email said if you do not ship the rest shoes or refund before this coming Sunday (1/19/08), here’s what I’m gonna do:
1, Will report to FBI local office and headquarters in Washington.
2, Will report to Chinese police.
3, Will report to FBI in American Embassy in Beijing.
4, Will contact these people which were scammed by you before, with the help of me speaking Chinese, we will ask the police to investigate your previous cases and current new case.
5, Will post what happened on the online forums especially those popular Nike shoes forums.
6, I was told by someone in Tian Jin who knows you that he would assist the police to arrest you if needed. (Chinese male, 25 years old, wear eye-glass).
7, The reason you got to scam so many westerners before, was because they do not speak Chinese, they have no where to confirm even if you said you’ve sent the shoes. No one at EMS company or local post office speaks English. But I speak Chinese, I know where to confirm and who to contact, your lies do not work on me.
8, You can keep sending me emails before this coming Sunday with same lies over and over again, I don’t care and I will not pay any attention to those, the time limit is Sunday, either refund or ship out rest 48 pairs of shoes. But if you do ship out 1 pair of fake, I’ll not only do what I stated above I’ll also report to Nike and Nike in China. Also fake shoes will be destroyed at custom, you will have to refund if it happens.

He replied the next day, said shoes were returned to him on that specific day which is a straight lie, on EMS paper he put sender as Jeff in HK from China, without any detailed address, how could the shoes be shipped back to him in Tian Jin? It’s just another proof that shoes were never shipped out.

Knowing what I will do, he’s worried and scared. He said he will refund, but I have to first “correct what I posted online” and “apologize sincerely to him” as “I’m the person caused all these dramas due to lack of international trade or transportation knowledge”. I replied to him that I would never apologize because I didn’t do nothing wrong rather he’s the one should apologize to me.

The next couple days he would not let it go, he’s never admitted what he’s done to me in front of all these proofs, rather kept lying and sending me nasty emails with threats that if I do not apologize I’ll never get my money back, and he “knows for a fact” how law works, even if “you report to police, you will never get your money back, not a penny”, the previous online complaints about him were all “left by other competitive companies”, “those threads are worthless because real clients will never check those forums”, only “small clients will and they’re not my clients”, he also claimed that he has some “cooperations” with those popular Nike forums that’s how those complaining posts against him got to deleted. He also said that my case “lost too much of his time”, that “he didn’t make any money out of my order rather he lost”, which is because he lost the money he stole from me, by the way he still kept some even though he did refund, all his emails were nasty. I just want this to be done so I could end this nightmare and move on.

Due to the fact that I just wanted my money back and I can re-post what happened, I posted the previous messages that I was told shoes were lost and returned to him, and he would refund. He’s never satisfied with my posts and kept bringing it up, and on Saturday 1/18/08 he said he’s transferred $2,000 to me via Western Union but he would not give me MTCN number before I apologize to him, I replied said I’ll never apologize and I do not believe he’s refunded, therefore Sunday is coming up and I’ll have to do what I said. He then replied passed me the MTCN number, and today 1/22/08 I’ve got the rest refund. The total refund should be $4,821 which I’ve only got $4,564 back.

During this long process, both me and my husband felt extremely stressed out knowing our hard-earned money was down the drain over night, the time and effort I put into this trying so hard to get our money back. The refund is nothing compares to the days and hours we put into this and the tremendous amount of stress. I’m still tearing up while I’m typing this I felt today has been the biggest relief ever in my life.

What do you learn from my lesson? What I learned is use secure payment method always, protect yourself do not be the victim. Do some researches online before you purchase from someone matter the company you’re dealing with is big or small, there will always be some sort of information either good or bad, if the company has previous case of scamming, stay away from them.

I’m sorry it takes a bit time to read this, I truly hope my post will help provide some information to those who have been scammed by www.wearwarehouse.com , do not do business with this guy of any kind, or the next person that’s screwed might be you.

Peace.

Peace.
