Protection doing business in China

Do I have any protection at all, doing business with people in China? If so, what information do I need to gather (from the business) to ensure I have a saftey rope?

See the various discussions on this issue here but you have to do diligence and make sure the firm is legit.

Check bank references local gov. licenses, etc.

Can anyone verify this Chinese company:

This company in China sent us large contract but wanted us to visit and sign it in their office. We like to know if they are legitimate or scammers and if anyone knows or dealt with them before.
