Question on divorce rights?
I am asking this question for my mum who is to silly to get law advice, my mum and dad broke up several months ago because he cheated on her after moving to america to live and start up a business he took a mortgage out on our house in england to buy a house over there before they broke up.
They have not yet been divorced but they may do soon, because of the mortgages and loans he took out on are house for his business and his home other in america we are being crippled finacially and we cannot pay of all his loans, my mum thinks she will lose are house because she cant pay of his loans though the mortgage on this house is not much because it was bought before house prices went to large amounts but my dad took loans out to help his old business in england and new house / business in america and we are having to pay for them. I was wondering if it was possible as they are broken up to make him pay the loans taken out for his american home and loans so that we dont loose are home and have nothing left after his loans were paid off? |

Yes you can.
The court will divide assets and debts so that a fair allocation occurs. She should get legal counsel to make sure she gets her share of assets and perhaps the house. |

Most of the time things are split but if she gets a really good lawyer she could have to where he pays for all of his debts. So long as she didn't have her name on any of the loans he took out. I'm talking from experince here.
