Confused Can he evict me? We have been married for 12 years.

My husband and I have been married for 12 years. Last year, his grandma bought us a beautiful home. The mortgage is to remain in her name until she passes, then it will transfer to us, as part of her estate.
Things between my husband and I have been very rocky, and he has asked me to move out. I cannot afford to move, and I love this house.
Can he legally evict me, if the house is not in his name? What are my rights?
Also, I pay half the bills right now, and when he was out of work all winter, I paid them all.

Since he does not own home nor is he acting as the owners agent he cannot evict. However if he request Grandma to give you notice to vacate or grants him powers as her agent he can

I agree with sunlover. Only the owner of the house can dispossess you.

My husband and I have been going through a divorce for 6 1/2 years. I have been disabled and I inherited my home 13 yrs before we married. The night we married he came out that he was an alcoholic and drug addict and that he was going to kill me to get my house and that I would now learn the real deal. Since that time as I said I was disabled legally due to severe back and leg problems and he has been evicted and arrested for broken pfa's, assault, etc. and I just got a letter that my attorney neglected to even tell me about that I have a hearing this Tues. and my husband wants all support dropped and me to come up with another $3000. It's a long story and would appreciate advice.

Please provide us a little more information on the matter.

You say that your husband wants all support dropped. Is he now or is it anticipated that he will be paying spousal support in the final divorce?

Are you saying that your husband is asking for another $3000 (why) or is that your attorney (presumably for the additional work on your case)?

What questions do you have?

Your lawyer should be the one advising you since you have retain him for his expertise and he is privy to all the facts of your case as well as the laws of your state.

You may have grounds for annulment on the basis he withheld material information from you to induce you to marry.

Your lawyer has all the details of the "long story" and should be prepared to represent you and your case before the court.

He's not the owner so he can't evict you. If I were you I'd tell the owner, your grandmother, what's going on and have him convicted. He doesn't sound like a very nice person.

Find a better attorney who knows how to communicate and get that divorce resolved as quickly as possible. This guy sounds like nothing but trouble and you're better off without him.

Make sure you have all evidence of what you have been paying since you moved in
