Contemprt of court on Pendente lite relief

My wife was given pendente lite relief and we had a show cause hearing for contempt of court aginst me. My wife was awarded Maint and childsupport. They were based on previous tax returns whuich showed that I made a certain amount of money for those years. My salary has declined since then and I am unable to pay the full amount every month. My child support is paid up. But my maint. is behind. I don't make enought o pay what the award was. That is why I have the contempt charge. I have filed bankruptcy and so has my wife. I was told by my lawyer that the judge could not proceed while under BK protection. The judge did anyway and gave me 30 days to pay the back maint. charges or she will put me in jail for contempt. My lawyer say he will get the transcripts and file an appeal. What are my chances of getting an appeal in most cases? Any feedback will be appreciated.
