Default divorce/out on the streets soon in georgia

my wife of 25 yrs suddenly wants a divorce.we have 2 children.i don't want the divorce because i don't want to be deprived of the right to live with my children and finishing raising my daughter who is almost 14. i have done nothing wrong and have always been a good and loving father and have helped with all parenting and financial support.we are and have been living in a house that's owned by her parents for 5 yrs.i've been out of work for almost 2 yrs due to the recession but drew unemployment for most of that time and still contributed.i have no money or prospects of work at this time and she wants to put me out on the street.i gave her my last $1500 dollars to pay the property tax which was $1666 dollars so we could have a roof over our heads for the next year and now she expects me to leave penniless with no place to go.this isn' right and i'd like to know if i have any legal recourse.i do not want to become homeless,it's winter and i have no place to go.if i had the $1500 dollars at least i could afford some kind of shelter at least temporarily.please help, thanks

I wish to inform you that if other party files for divorce then you may contest the divorce and may delay the divorce. In this, the custody of child is given to the parent keeping the best interest of child as the main consideration by the Court and you may therefore have child custody. As you are not being able to have employment, therefore, you may demand alimony from your wife for supporting you financially. Regarding the ability of your wife to evict you out of the house and leave you in the cold, it can only be done by the due process of law. She will have to give you an eviction notice and take Court Order before she can evict you. You may inform the Court that you have paid $1,500 and so you have met your part of the commitment to remain in the house for the next year. You may also submit to the Court that you may not be separated from your children. The Court will consider all the facts and decide the matter.

Who says you have to leave? You are a legal resident of that home and she can't kick you out. Do you have a rental agreement with her parents?

You are under absolutely no obligation to leave the home. The only way you can be forced out is by legal eviction that would have to be court ordered.

Further, if she wants a divorce that badly, she needs to put on her big girl panties and move out herself.
