I got married in Vegas but it turns out his divorce was never finalized!

I married in Las Vegas, but we both live in California. I knew he had been married (they got married here in California) before but he told me the divorce had been finalized and so i believed him and married him. I found out after we got married that their divorce was never finalized. she had only submitted the papers but never followed thru, he said he thought it had been done. Now me and him have decided to end it. Is there anything legally i need to do? am i legally married to him because it was in another state?
