In Quebec, I understand that a reason for divorce (maybe a prerequisite) is that the couple live 'separate and apart' for one year. However, I also understand that a couple may be living 'separate and apart' under the same roof. What conditions must be met for a couple to be 'living separate and apart under the same roof'?

Often that alone will not suffice but there can be no sexual relations at all.

In order to use living separate and apart as grounds for divorce, the couple may live under the same roof. In order to use living separate and apart while living under the same roof, the couple must prove that they have had little or no contact and have been living as though they were "separate and apart".
