Default Divorce Between International Students Residing in New Zealand

Hello,
I was wondering how the divorce process works in NZ for International students? My husband and I are Americans who are potentially moving to NZ at the end of December 2009 for school purposes, and I am considering filing for divorce after we have lived there for 6 months to a year. Is the process different for International students? Must we be separated for two years like NZ law requires of its citizens? Any advice would help. Thank you.

also, is is not sufficient for you both to just live in NZ at the time you plan to divorce, you or your husband must be domiciled in NZ (check the NZ family court website for a definition), which means that one of you has plans to remain there permanently (if your on student visas this is unlikely to be the case). You must have also been separated for 2 years prior to filing. Seems it would be easier for you to file in the US
