U.S. and Indian Divorce
Hello, I have a problem. I am a U.S. citizen. I married an Indian citizen in December of 2008. We got married in India in a Hindu ceremony. After coming back to the U.S. we had a registered marriage here. However, after coming back to the U.S. our marriage began having serious difficulties. Even before coming back to the U.S. we had some serious issues but I thought they would get better. However after coming to the U.S. these problems just got worse. After these issues became more severe, I filed for divorce. I filed for divorce in the U.S. I have several questions. Since I filed for divorce in the U.S. what happens with our marriage in India? Her family is making a big fuss over there. Can they do anything there to me or my family members that are still in India? I would appreciate any help.

Your US divorce will be valid though if you have assets in India it would be advisable to ratify the divorce in India as well.
I am sure World Law could help you resolve it all if you have any problems; you might email them as well on the home page, |
