Will not remove personal items from house !

My ex and I lived together in a 8 year relationship and recently split up.

We lived together the entire time...not married...but split all the household bills, mortgage etc etc.

When I asked him to leave he took a few personal items and has yet to be back since then for the rest of his belonging, which after 8 years is a significant amount. A house full and a garage packed with tools, motorcycle, camping, fishing, sporting gear and a host of other items.

It has been quite hard for me to move on considering it looks like he still 100% lives in the house. I have emailed him several times plus sent a registered letter advising that he needs to respond with times and dates that he will be here for his personal items with absolutely no response from him.

So since he refuses to collect his items what are my rights in regard to disposing of them or retaining them for my personal use ? How long does this have to go on until I can take action to clear my house of his items and reclaim my home as mine ?

I was actually wondering the same thing. When my husband moved out after 25 years of marriage he took a few personal items, but left a house full of stuff ( tools, exercise equipment, stereo, etc) that he purchased for himself during our marriage. He is now saying that the value of all the household items will be listed under my assets. I have asked him on a number of occasions to remove his stuff, but he refuses. He said if I don't want it then I should sell it or throw it out.
I am trying to take care of my ten year old daughter, run our small farm by myself, am going to school full-time (I was a SAHM), and working part-time. Now I have to deal with the task of either selling all of these things or paying for removal. Is there a legal way to force him to deal with these things?

here is what I did...it took some time, but was soooooooo worth it. I packed up and logged all of her possessions and moved them to storage. I contacted her and told her that I paid for one month of storage, and after that it was up too her. If she wanted it to go into default that was up too her, and it was out of my house forever!!! I got a deal of 40 dollars for the first month, and she has since been paying 70...lol. My house is not free storage...and now she can take responsibility for her own things. "cleaning house" was refreshing both physically and emotionally.

hi i just wanted to say the same has happened to me, about 18 months ago i had a beautiful baby in canada, we both lived in africa at the time, anyway my dh said he will be meeting us back home in about 3 months and has not come back for us or his things anyway we are now seperated and planing a divorce what do i do with his things, he has not cared or contacted either his child or me or supported us in anyway, i like the idea of storage that is a good idea i have so many things of his, i think it will help with closure which we all need.
