Default Steps to Take - What next?

I left a 10 yr marriage in MO. Husband had concealed that he was a felon, starting stealing and pawning my son and I's personal items as well as my deceased husband's, my dad's, my grandmothers, aunt's and other relatives items from the home. Some he would return if I paid him. After I left, I found that even more items are gone. I've made lists - how do I get them back or restitution. This man did not work more than 1/2 (if even than) of our marriage - either quitting or getting fired from the jobs. We sold our home this past year - had to as mortgage was way behind due to his unemployment. Moved to a very cheap apt. August - the last straw - he'd quit two jobs since March, his temper was steadily increasing and I found even more items taken since we had to move from our house. I am blessed and was able to move to the safety of my family 6 hours away. Now, after all the threatening messages, he's let one of our two vehicles be returned to the loan company - of course, both loans were in my name as he did not have jobs or credit. Next, he advised he is moving to Canada and will not pay the IRS our joint monthly payment set up from his current job. In addition, he is telling me that he will accept anything in a divorce because he will move to Canada and not be responsible for paying any of the debt. Of course, we mostly have debts and the only asset is my pension. Can he do this?

Did you actually divorce finally and was there a divorce agreement?

He can be held in contempt under that. If not done, you may want to get that filed!!

Thanks, Kansas. I am in the process of the divorce. I just don't know what happens if he leaves the USA. Can I still divorce? Is he still responsible for whatever liabilities the judge decrees? Is there something I need to make sure I get into the divorce decree?
