From: Michelle (sweet_cupryk@yahoo.com, 810412-0209)
Area of law: Family law Country: United States of America State: michigan I have been married since 2005.I am from the US he is from Canada. I became very sick and sorry to say he abused me. I was afraid for my life besides my illness so I gathered all I could for my bus ride back to the US. We both want a divorce he cheated on me when he found out that I was ill. Neither of us are contesting anything. we just want to end it. we have nothing between us meaning material things. Now his new girlfriend says she is making a complaint the police involved because we both shared a credit card. He gave me the card to use. I did not use it illegally but she claims I did even though it is in my name the store I called them and they said he is responsible because he gave me the card. I was never told I needed permission to use my own card. Can someone in Canada come to the US who has nothing to do with my marriage then be the one he commited adultry with. I want a quick divorce with no strings attached. Any advice I know there is alot here but Im in need of help. I am on disability because I am loosing my kidneys and dont have money for a divorce when there is no children or assets involved, since he sponsered me in Canada he is responsible for me until next Oct.09. I have PR status until 2011. If this is also an issue that he signed the papers or understand that what ever came of the marriage which I truly loved him in the begining he had to support me. Ill give all that up too. I want to get on with someone who treats me 1000 times better then he did in the past two years. Thank you for your time Sincerely. Michelle |

You can file where you reside but it will not be without some cost.
He will have to divide assets with you so you will be eligible for some funds presumably. |
