Default unmodified alimony

Is there anyway to change the terms of alimony if it's unmodifiable, due to unforseen circumstances after the divorce?

There is always some possible chance but you need very good reasons and it helps if you can argue some equitable position such as that fraud occurred or you were misled etc.

What is the situation--what has changed?

Hi,

When I signed the settlement agreement, I wasn't represented by a lawyer, and I was in a hurry to move so that I could take care of my ailing parents. My mother has Alzheimers. My plan was to be able to care for them and still be able to work, unfortuneatly my father passed a couple of months after moving, and for the last 4 years I have been my mothers fulltime caregiver 24/7. My alimony will stop in a couple years, and I don't know how I will be able to support myself and my mother. It's only now after talking with people and trying to figure out my future I realize everything I gave up. Military pension, his 401k ect. I guess I didn't realize at the time what I had done. I guess I'm asking if I have a leg to stand on, or if I should just drop the whole thing.

Thanks

I think you would have a tough case to prove, since all the unforeseen circumstances had nothing to do with the father.
