My husband and I were living as expatriates in uganda when he left me for another woman. He has subsequently gone through a traditional marriage ceremony with her known as the 'introduction' in Buganda culture, despite not being divorced from me. All my research indicates that this customary form of marriage is recognised as legal marriage in Uganda and that he has therefore committed bigamy; my Ugandan lawyer confirmed this. However, he says his lawyer says that he hasn't committed bigamy. Can anyone shed any light on this? I am concerned for my own position.

A traditional marriage ceremony abroad by a married man is bigamy.
You can file charges and/or file your own divorce proceeding. |
