Default Bahamian Divorce

Hello,

My wife and I were married in the Bahamas 4 years ago while we were both living there as dive instructors. I am a US citizen and she is a Brazilian citizen.

We would like to get divorced, yet the Bahamas does not provide any method for doing it ourselves. We have no children, no mutual property, and the situation is completely non contested.

We are looking for the simplest and least expensive method of divorcing.

The marriage was never officiated in the US or in Brazil.

Thanks for your time,

-Travis

I am doing this now and live in Pike County. Go to Office Depot and buy a Divorce Kit, in the section where they sell all the legal forms. Someone there can take you to them. It cost $30. You will probably need a friend or two to help you fill them out. After you fill them out, you and your wife can go to the courthouse to sign them, I think they have to be notarized. The only other thing you do is pay filing fees, roughly $150, depending on the county.
