is it normal for my attorney to not keep me posted on whats going on in my divorce? my soon to be ex seems to know more than i do and has letters from his attorney stating things that i was never informed of such as a decision that was made for him to get the house instead of me. i am wondering why my attorney knew nothing about this or if he knew and is just keeping info from me. should i be concerned that he goes on vacation and doesnt let me know that he will be away all week knowing that i had a followup parent settlement conference scheduled? he told me he doesnt need to be present for those meetings and only needs to show up for the pre-trial conference. i left him a message earlier in the week and got no call back. then i called him today for advice and other issues that came up in my parent settlement conference (that i needed answers for right away) and found out he is on vacation all this week! this is the second time he went on vacation and didnt at least call beforehand to see if i had anything to discuss or even let me know that he wouldnt be available should something else come up. i dont know what the norm is for this type of stuff but it seems like he is never around when i need advice or guidance. i feel like im representing myself lately.

He should set some rules for how and when you can update.
If you are not satisfied you may discuss replacing him; if that does not help perhaps you should make a change. |

Re: attorney is no help
I realize that you may not be able to afford to change lawyer's at this time, but in the long run it will pay off. Cut your losses with your present counsel and get yourself another attorney. FAST. An attorney should keep their client abreast on all goings on of the divorce, and if they do not, they are certainly not doing their job. Good luck.
