Divorce from a foreign marriage in US
Hi,
My sister is married to an indian on H1B visa workin in CAlifornia for the last 6 months. However, for certain resons the boy has sent court notice for separation is US without giving any financial, physical security. The girl is on dependent visa, has no money, place to live after Mar 08. She has been left to fend for herself. IS this divorce valid as per indian marriage laws? Can my sister do something to get financial support immediately? The court hearing date is in Sept. What can she do till such a time to sustain. |

It would be valid in the US law but in some cases will not be sufficient to divorce in India.
And if he is back in India for any reason or has assets there, it is possible that legal proceedings could be taken. Also the US court should order that she is provided for...the court will not leave her destitute and trapped. |

--also World Law's lawyers could probably intervene and help resolve this if need be. You may email them on the home page.
