Re-entering Australia after deportation? Please help

Please help. In 2002 I was deported from Australia. I had been in AU for about 9months prior with my boyfriend which was working there. We broke up & both came back to the U.S then I returned to visit friends.When going through customs to re enter I did not have my friends address in which I was staying so they questioned me further. When questioning me further they did not believe that I was not working there so within an hr of landing put me right back on a plane. I was devastated! Even had my snowboard...I obviously wasn't working. I am now wanting to go back & visit the same friends, but am terrified that when I try to re enter they will send me back which means lost airfare for both my husband & I. I'm pretty sure they said 4yrs, but I really don't know. How do I find out for sure? Any help is sooo appreciated.

I probably feel your exclusion period is over.... You can apply through student or anay other visa but remember you shouldnt have been deported due to conviction or false documents matter. You also need to clear debt with commonwealth government when you were detained.
