Confused Can my nephew change his immigration status?

My nephew has been here for 17years, he came when he was and now he has a degree in finances from Georgia State University (GPA 4.0, worked 40+ hours a week to pay tuition because he had no rights to Hope or any other scholarships) but cannot get a job because of his "illegal" status (his family overstayed the visitor visa; however all his family has the work permit, payed taxes, bought a house). The whole family will have a deportation trial next year in June ( including the two American siblings). My question is, can he go to the law school while he is waiting for his trial ( he passed his LSAT), and also can he get a student visa and not be deported?

Default re: Can my nephew change his immigration status?

He can still go to law school but his immigration status matter will still proceed.

Those matters can be dragged out in many cases so get legal assistance. And new laws may allow permanent residence for illegals in the near future. Obama wants to pass that.

I would suggest you also email World Law on their home page to discuss details privately.

Smile re: Can my nephew change his immigration status?

Thank you for your reply. The family already has a lawyer, but he told my nephew that he does not have any chance to stay. However, my nephew was 5 when he got here, and my sister applied for political asylum right away but it was denied, after they have been here for 17 years waiting for an answer. I do not understand why the law punishes the kids....
