Default china, reporter lied

Dear Sir/Madam, I am living in China and last week i spoke with an
american guy that was travelling around in China or that is what he said.
and i spoke with him. and now i saw a story in the paper in the USA where he
is Quoting me about my job here. so the guy is just a journalist, but he
never told me. now my question is: can he just quote people without
telling them he is a journalist.

He cannot lie--but need not tell you he is preparing a story. Contact his editor if you feel he crossed the line.
