Unhappy bouncing checks across state lines

I HAVE A CREDIT CARD WHICH I MADE ONE PAYMENT ON. IT CLOSED AND THEN WENT TO COLLECTIONS. I WAS RECEIVING LETTERS IN THE MAIL SAYING THAT I NEED TO MAKE PAYMENTS. THEN THEY SENT IT TO SOMEONE ELSE AND THEY CALLED IN DECEMBER STATING THAT I NEED TO MAKE A PAYMENT OR THEY WOULD SUE ME. I AGREED TO MAKE PAYMENTS AND THE DAY THAT THEY TOOK THEIR PAYMENT OUT MY CHECKING ACCOUNT WAS OVERDRAWN. MY ACCOUNT WAS OVERDRAWN BECAUSE MY SCHOOL TOOK OUT PAYMENTS WHEN THEY WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO. I LATER GOT MY BANK ACCOUNT STRAIGHT AND FORGOT ABOUT THE PAYMENTS FOR HE CREDIT CARD. SOMEONE CALLED IN JANUARY STATING THAT I WOULD BE CHARGED WITH BOUNCING CHECKS ACROSS STATE LINES BECAUSE THE MONEY WASN'T IN MY BANK. I TRIED TO PLEAD MY CASE AND EXPLAIN TO HER MY SITUATION,THAT I'M A FULL TIME STUDENT AND I HAVE NO EMPLOYMENT. SHE TOLD ME TO SUCK IT UP AND ASK MY PARENTS. I WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL HER BACK BUT AFTER SPEAKING WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS THEY SAID SHE WAS JUST TRYING TO BULLY ME. SO I NEVER CALLED BACK. SHE CALLED THREE DAYS AGO STATING THAT SHE WAS GOING TO SEND MY INFORMATION TO THE COURT AND THEY WERE GOING TO BRING ME UP ON CHARGES IF I DIDN'T PAY THE FULL AMOUNT (700) IN FULL. I TOLD HER I DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY SHE SAID THEN SHE WOULD BEGIN TO PROCESS MY INFO TO START BRINGING ME UP ON CHARGES. I CALLED BACK AND TRIED TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE ELSE BUT THEY TOLD ME SHE WAS THE ONLY PERSON THAT I COULD TALK TO. I TOLD HER I WOULD MAKE A PAYMENT THIS WEEK AND SHE TOLD ME IT HAD TO BE 350. I'M TRYING TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY BUT DO I HAVE TO PAY HER THAT AMOUNT? IS SHE RIGHT? CAN I BE CHARGED? WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Default Re: bouncing checks across state lines

You need to try to not bounce the checks as if the DA feels it was purposeful you could be charged.

Better not to pay than to bounce the checks.
