My wife had surgery in Aug 2005. In October 2005, we paid our share of the bill of 333.33. Case closed right?...No
Evidently in November 2006 (13 months later), the hospital decided to audit and rearrange a number of charges. It then forced the insurance company to pay another $2300, while also sending us a new bill for $233 in January 2007. I refused to pay and wrangled with them for a number of months. They could not show me why I needed to pay, and in fact they moved a number of charges around, making some $1 and others $1700 for example. Finally they sent the bill to a collection agency where they now have put a black mark on my wife's credit. Do I have any recourse? This is so bogus to me. Small claims court agains the hospital and the collections agency? |

That is a bit odd--if you file in small claims they at the least will not look too good and you may very well win
