a resigned director in a corporation be liable for a bank loan he had signed during his tenure in the office.

Yes in some cases he can be, but normally the company will have insurance for that or will indemnify him.
But he is not automatically responsible for every corp. debt... |

How about if he is a guarantor , is he liable if the company failed to pay the said loan.
