Credit given to a Minor?!?!
When I was 16 I started my Credit by lying on applications about my age.
Finally one creditor messed up and gave me a credit card. After that creditors just started throwing credit cards at me. After about a year or so I had already run up my credit limit and ruined my credit. Now that I'm 18 I've closed all my derogatory accounts, fixed my age on my credit report, and tried to get some creditors off my report. Some have removed themselves, but some like Bank of America wont. I've even had a judgment filed against me by Bank of America. Is there anything I can do? |

That was a crime you committed and it may mean that you are not excused from the debt obligation if the card companies really push the issue.
You would have to show they failed to even check in most cases and granted a card while you were a minor. That could void the obligation. But your initial act at least as stated here is indeed a problem. |

yeah...The thing is, most of the creditors and the credit reporting agencies didn't even question it. Most of my accounts were cleared out and my credit report looks clean with the exception of these two accounts, one frome MBNA (now Bank of America) and one from Bank of America...I have written to them several times but never got a reply. I think that they believe ignoring the issue is a better idea...

Is it possible to negotiate a lump-sum payment of the principal balance of an outstanding student loan, and thereby reduce or eliminate interest and penalties? The principal on my student loan is only one-third of the total amount the government is trying to collect. Two-thirds of the total is penalties and interest. This doesn't seem fair. There must be some way to reduce penalties and interest if you agree to a lump-sum payment of the principal balance. Does anyone know the answer to my question? Thanks so much in advance if anyone has had experience in this area.
