leasing company overcharged and suing out of state

hi everyone its my first time here.

i had a business and lease 3 trailers last year in june of this year i ended the lease early and returned the trailers where i got them in fontana,ca. i expected to pay the fees they charged for ending it early and also damages, but i made a verbal agreement of leaving brand new tires on all the trailers and not being charge for damages if any. the fees for early termination is around $2k now they are charging $4k for all fees includinbg damages they are suing me in utah i'm from california and signed the contract in fontana,ca, never went to utah.


i want to pay them what is fair what can i do. just not up i don't have money to go to utah.

They will still have to take any judgment they may get to a California court as well.

But you can also counterclaim if you wish and seek damages from them.

Or even sue in in your own local court for breach of the agreement you believe was made.
