I have lived overseas for the past 4 years. I left Canada unexpectedly, supposedly for only 3 months. Circumstances changed, and I now live in Asia. I left an outstanding credit card balance, totalling nearly 5000 dollars. If this debt were passed on to a Collection agency, and I could not be contacted for 4 years, would a subpoena have been sent to me? If it remained unanswered, could I now in fact be 'wanted' for not appearing?
I am only speculating. I don't know at all how this works, and left no forwarding address. I will be travelling to Canada and would like to deal with it when I arrive. What might I expect? Could I possibly be arrested? No judgements please; just any helpful insight you may have would be helpful. Thank you JSM |

You would have to be served court papers personally or no court action could be taken...
