debt problem

my(age 37) problem is about my debt with a credit store,i bought some items
from them.Around year2003 i had an accident,i had financial problem.A friend
took over the payment and the things.Early 2005 i quit my job in Singapore
and left Johor Bahru back to my home town course it was difficult to work
with no overtime,just basic salary.
After a year the retail credit store called me and informed me that i
still owe money.I tried to call my friend but cannot be contacted.I asked
the retailers to take away my things there.But they failed.
2006 i started to study full time under a goverment loan scheme for
those who are jobless/cannot afford to pay for further studies.
I inform the store of my situation.But they just asked me to settle
the amount RM2000++
2007 just a month ago i received a letter from their lawyer asking
to settle up or face the court to be blacklisted.They also called me up.They
also asked me to write a letter to them to state my problems.
This time they contacted me and said i still have to pay up at least
RM50/= per month for 40 months.The problem is i cant find a part time job
that can pay me that much a month couse im studying full time.
Second thing is the name they have printed in those latters i receive
includind the court oder sample is missed spell.
example name on id: xxx a/l yyyy
name on the latter is:xxx yyay..c/o yyay a/l rrrr
Im afraid to let them know couse they might change it without my concern.
If i go to court what kind of risk will i be in?Will it distrub my
studies and my loan?

It is best to try to work out some payment schedule if you can. But they may never file if they have not done so already.
