Confused over our heads

My husband and I have always had perfect credit until a reduction in wages and overtime. Somehow our creditcards built up having to use them for so much to make it week to week w/the pay loss. We are now WAY over our heads, even tried one of those debt credit companies on t.v. they said we have too much debt and not enough income to help us. Well, I think we knew that! That's why we are so far in. The creditors call constantly 8am.-9pm. non stop. We feel so bad that we can't settle w/them but if we talk to any of them they will want pmt arrangments set up (which they are intitled to) but we are having problems just barely getting by with 2 kids and don't want to promise a check that we know won't be covered. What will happen to us? Will they garnish his wages? Take our house?

They will not take your house, but frankly you may need to consult with bankruptcy counsel at this time and either discharge the debts or get them managed under court reorganization plans.

How many times a day do the debt collectors call? If they are calling an excessive number of times, that could be a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and you might be entitled to damages for the harassment. What State are you in, and what State is the debt collector in?

Unhappy Re: over our heads

I am in P.A. and the debt collectors call from all different states. The caller I.D. say's missouri, North Carolina, Utah..... And they call NON STOP! It seems like the phone never stops ringing. I actually found the nerve to answer the phone a few mins ago and tried to explain our situation. Big loss of $ at job, my son and I have alot of med problems that we are trying to keep up w/. Behind on all monthly bills ect. I said we are not trying to get out of this debt but I will not sit here and promise you $ and then get off the phone knowing I will not be able to pay it. We never answer the phone if it's a credit card calling so maybe that's not harassment?
